The Kamloops area is a year-round recreational paradise with superb snowboarding and skiing, water-skiing and white water rafting, hiking and biking trails, hunting and fishing, and not surprisingly given its amazingly varied topography... golf.
Kamloops GCC, the area's first course was designed more than 50 years ago by the club’s first head pro, Rod Palmer and the course pased every test of time. For the next 22 years, it was really the only game in town. But so much has changed since then.
The ball really got rolling in 1980 when the legendary Robert Trent Jones accepted an invitation to create the Kamloops Rivershore Golf Club, what many consider his best ‘links-style’ course on the banks of the South Thompson. The greens are small, and well guarded. A superb test of golf, Rivershore is perennially ranked among the province’s best courses.
Since 1990 golf course building has accelerated. Of special note is the Sun Rivers golf course on the banks of the Thompson River and just recently, Tobiano Golf Course.
